The shiur tonight is dedicated to our IDF soldiers fighting in Gaza and the north.
We, Jews everywhere, are grateful for your courage, bravery and willingness to
protect Jews throughout the world. Thank you to you and your families.
We learn for the hostages, hoping our spiritual energy will help set them free,
today! Am Yisrael Chai. Proud to be a Jew.
This week’s Parsha is Ekev (Deuteronomy 7:12 - 11:25). Tonight we will read the
entire parsha together. It is an extraordinary speech given by Moshe Rabeinua,
Moses our teacher. It is one that belongs in the Orator Hall of Fame.
In it, Moses speaks about what will be, when/if the Jewish people adhere to God's
commandments, and the blessings that will follow. Moses stresses the idea that if
we are to listen to God's words, His commandments we, the Jewish people, will
prosper through divine favor.
We are told by Moses, the greatest prophet ever, to have faith, to be conscious of
the gifts God has given us, and our responsibility to serve Him with all our hearts.
We are reminded of past miracles and the importance of remaining humble with
gratitude. Ekev highlights the profound connection between faithfulness and the
realization of God's promises.
None of this is easy. Moses stands before the Jewish people shortly before he
'returns to his people' (before he dies) and instructs us to be good Jews; to love
and fear God; to remember the miracles He bestowed upon us. Indeed, what Moses
is telling us is a challenge throughout our lives. To be Godly is an incredible task.
To be thankful and appreciative to God, is impossible for some.
How often is God in our thinking? How often are we sure of God's presence in our
lives?
I know my road to embracing the words of Ekev, of Moishe Rabeinu, is a very bumpy
one, an extraordinarily challenging one. I am rarely successful walking that road.
Let's talk tonight about your's. How is it for you to have faith in God, solid faith,
and live a life according to God's commandments? Let's share our thoughts and
ideas. I look forward to hearing from you this evening. It'll be a tough conversation.
Once again, the shiur is tonight at 7 pm. The zoom link is below. Am Yisrael Chai.
Be Proud to be a Jew.
With Love,
Avrum
